 Dear Friends and Family,  2024 has been a year of change and growth for our family.  Brent continues to work at Nelson laboratories. His position has shifted. He is now a consulting study director for Chemistry. He has also been tackling the project of transforming the unfinished basement into a 2 bedroom apartment. He loves to be outside with the kids and in the yard. A knee injury has been keeping him from time in the mountains, but he is hoping that his careful care of it will help him heal and he will have more time there next year. He has been serving as the Sunday School President for the ward and was just released in December. On to new adventures! Katie continues to work for Alpine School District as a school counselor. She has been working at the Elementary level and loves the little kiddos. In late January she was offered a part time position as an ACHMC therapist for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Family Services. She has been balancing the 2...

 Well it has been quite a rollercoaster for 2023. Here is a review of what we have been up to:  Brent-Working away at Nelson Laboratories.  He is now mentoring other employees and is the "Dad" of the group now. He did slip away from the office for a fun trip with the boys right before school started. He explored his old haunts in Washington and now we have 3 boys begging to go back to the beach. Brent has completed multiple amazing art projects this year, some of our favorites a wire dragon that we added to our white elephant presents for the family party. Brent also has been holding down the fort A LOT and being and awesome support to wife and kids. He got a bit of a shock over the summer when he was called as the Sunday School President, but he is doing fantastic! You know the good thing about this blog is at least once a year I get on and update, haha! This has been a CrAZY year. We decided in November of last year it was time to move from our home of 9+ years. Three months later we were gone and it was a bit like ripping a bandaid off a wound. Our feelings were (to be honest still are) very raw leaving the comforts, friends, and familiarity of our community to a different one. Having children craziness and our own craziness has made it difficult to adjust and make friends. I just want people to understand that after we settle down (do we ever) I can be a normal person that is friendly. Anyway here is the review in a nutshell: Brent is still at Nelson Labs and doing awesome! He has so far survived the company sell out and enjoys meeting and talking with people all over the world. What would I do if I received the news that death was haunting at the door? What would I change? What would I finish? What would be on my list? I have been pondering on this. Would my children and husband know they were the most important things in my life? Would they know how much I loved them? Would they know I would give anything for one more day? How would I treat them differently? I would want to buy Ayslind and Cyana their instruments. I would want Cyana to have her dance dress for championships. I would want to take the kids to Hawaii and the Sacred Grove. I would want them to know how much I love the gospel and our family adventure. I would want Brent to know he is my best friend and means everything to me. I would want him to know I love him.  The problem is, we don’t know when or how we will end our lives. We don’t know if we will be sickly and miserable for the last few months or if you will have the energy to do all that you want. I want to have adventures with my kids ...

June 8th- We woke up bright and early to the sun rising at 5 am. Luckily the jet lag helped us to wake up. We walked out the hotel to the train station next door to pick up our tickets to the top of Europe, the Jungfrau. We ran back in to eat our delicious continental breakfast. The breakfasts on our trip were the best part of the day! The oats, grains, cheese, meats, yogurts, sausage, bacon, eggs, breads, pastries, and croissants were so good! We looked forward to breakfast every morning. We ate hurriedly and rushed off to catch our train up the mountain. We quickly found our warm June weather disappearing into glacier ice and snow capped mountains. Occasionally the climb was so steep that Dason and Justin could appear to be in a "Superman" pose due to the gravity pull on the train.
