Remember 2016
Well we had an adventurous 2016. New washer and dryer, new dog, new car, new finger for Kanyon, and the microwave gave out just this week. I have high hopes for next year and a new house! We kicked off the new year with normal craziness in activities, work and school. We made it out to Disneyland over spring break, Dinosaurland during the summer, Ayslind hiked Timp with Brent and I, and spent a much need relaxing weekend with family at their cabin. It has been an interesting year. The kids have grown at amazing rates and I wonder what happened to the simple life of little kids.
Brent continues his work at the labs. He is now a study director 3 in Chemistry and loves learning and the growing opportunities. He has been loving the time with the kids and at home, taking vacations, and being in the mountains.
Katie continues work at home. We are down to one kiddo at home part day and most of the time it is the quietest time in the house. She had a mid life crisis in August when she turned 35 and decided to sale Tupperware. The business surprisingly quickly grew and now the house is full of more Tupperware than we ever imagined. It has been a fun adventure to get out of the house and socialize. Primary music leader is her other job and it is the best calling in the church.
Ayslind has grown leaps and bounds. She has gone from Elementary to Junior High thus entering the teenage years. She serves in her beehive class presidency and is playing flute in band. She thoroughly loves Junior High and the classes she is taking and looks forward to her new semester of classes. She continues to play soccer and is looking forward to the new year and adding some new sports to her list of extra curricular activities. She has become a beautiful pianist and young woman. We love her in our home as do her siblings.
Cyana has shot up in height and is happy and bouncy as ever. She loves her elementary teacher and class. She is becoming very independent on completing her homework and is quickly preparing for Junior High in another year. She continues to Irish dance and has made it to the prize winner level. She is so excited to preform in a solo dress and to begin to travel out of state for competitions. She has a lively imagination and loves to involve anyone who will participate in her own playwrights. She also is becoming a wonderful pianist and a beautiful young woman.
Bowyn is growing into quite the young man. He turns 8 in January and has been steadily preparing for his baptism. He told us early this year that he knew it was the right choice to be baptized. He has a love for the scriptures and will read them regularly. He finished the simplified Book of Mormon and loves the New Testament. He has recently been trying to read the full version of the Book of Mormon. He continues to love nature and all things "non-fiction". He loves school and his teachers. He looks for opportunities to help others. He also has been enjoying soccer and piano.
Lyvian is one amazing kid! She started kindergarten this year after completing her at home program of Waterford's Headstart progam. She loves every minute of school and one of her favorite things it to tell mom the new thing she learned at school that day. One of the favorites was when she jumped in the van so excited and grabbed the back of the front seat. She leaned her head forward and said, "mom guess what?!? EVEVERYONE in my class is my friend! Do you know how many that is?" She then sat down and put her hand on her head and said,"Wow! I have a lot of friends!" She then listed as many as she could remember. She is working very hard to stop sucking on her fingers. She has become a good little reader and is a wonderful "little elf."
Mr. Kanyon has grown so much this year. His cute little baby face quickly took on the toddler look as did his personality. He sure loves his Daddy! He is quite the little active ball of fire. Put something in his hand and he will throw it, ready or not. He loves his stuffed animals and to be wrapped in his blanket. He loves "Wild Kratts" and his imagination has taken off in the past few months. 2 weeks ago his pinkie finger was 75% severed in the bathroom door by a sibling. We just got the cast off today and the graft looks good and it is healing well. It has helped him to learn to be a little ambidextrous as it was his right hand that was in the cast. He has started getting a little frustrated with eating these past few days, so we were happy his cast came off. He has started to learn to count and in beginning to have clarity of speech. He will babble an entire story about animals and who he wants everyone to play. We love that little spitfire!
We have added a labradoodle to our house and call him Chester. He is challenging, but we hope we can be patient through the puppy stage to incoorperate him into our home.
It has been a crazy year full of adventures, frustrations, joys, and changes. We look forward to the New Year! Mostly we are grateful for the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Atonement! We wish you and you family a wonderful holiday season and hope you all have a Happy New Year!
