January update 2018
Well, one of my goals this year is to stay a little more up to date on our family. So here we go:
Brent recently had another change with work. He has had 2 callings for the past year one of them has been scouting and in March when I began work, our schedule changed such that he was required to work until 7:30 every night. For the past 6 months we have been battling with our schedule and making sure that he gets his hours. We recently went in for our temple recommend interviews and talked with our stake leaders about needing the change to happen. The bishopric has been fully aware and no changes have happened. The stake went to the bishopric and found they were prepared to release him and did so the following Sunday. The Tuesday afterward, Brent found out that his pay would be changed from salary to hourly. Now our hours really would count against us and with the change in our paychecks from 2x a month to every other week, we have been short money already. So this all happened and then our bishop just got put in as the stake president. This is our first week on the new schedule and Brent is trying to get some overtime so that he can try and make up for the less money per check.
Work is the same for me. I am currently working on a project to put together a large community fundraiser with the student council for Make-A-Wish foundation. It is a lot of outreach and trying to connect with people, so I never know who will show up in my inbox the next day.
Ayslind just received her high school registration packet information. She found out that she already qualifies to take the college 1010 biology next year because of her accelerated math/science class she is currently in. She is one ambitious young woman. Whatever she puts her mind to she can do. She also just signed up for Marching Band this year and the band is planning on going to Anaheim in October. She is doing amazing at her German and I am trying to practice so I can at least ask where the bathroom is! Ayslind's band has been accepted into the state festival at the highest competiton of only 15 other bands. This is pretty impressive as they are the only school accepted as an 8th grade band.
Cyana has started 6th grade band and is playing the oboe. She loves it so far and practices everyday. She continues in her dance and has a competition this weekend. She is hoping to get all of her dances to prize winner and maybe advance in some. She will be preparing for her 7th grade classes sometime in March. There are lots of changes on the way for her, but she seems anxiously excited.
Bowyn turns 9 today. I can't believe how big he has gotten. He is still such a goof, but so science focused. He loves animals and nature. He loves being a big brother. He absolutely loves scouting and is excited for the older groups. He does a great job at school when he takes his time to focus. He is a good little reader and loves to build and invent. He still wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up. He loves pokemon right now so that is what he has gotten for his birthday. That is a real challenge when you know NOTHING about it!
Lyvian is our sensitive middle child. She is quiet and often is found looking for someone to play with her. She enjoys being involved with sports and looks forward to soccer and tball season. We are having a challenge figuring out what exactly she likes. She will just mold in and play whatever anyone else is playing. She has become a wonderful little reader and I love when she makes notes and leaves them on my bed.
Kanyon is loving daddy time. The one good thing about our crazy schedule is the one-on-one time these two get in the morning. Kanyon has always loved his dad and they have had some fun adventures in the mornings. They will go running, go to the gym, go hiking, fishing, or just fix things up around the house. Kanyon has also really started to enjoy his learning times. He loves to make his little alphabet book and will run and get our box and tell me its time for learning time.
Our kiddos are growing so fast. Our favorites as a family right now are playing Clue or Battleship, eating brownies and icecream, and just a fun family movie night (old movies are the best Music Man, Singin' in the Rain). I wonder what the future will bring??
